Its another Christmas, “detty Christmas” is the slang on the streets and Bokoharam along with their business partner – snake farmer Buratai – had just the perfect plan to earn money and goodwill with an old strategy.
There had been repeated calls for the clearly useless service chiefs to be sacked, a daily call to a deaf commander-in-chief who measures performance by weight loss. buhari in his characteristic deaf and obstinate manner reposed confidence in the service thieves under whose watch thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives and life savings to kidnappers and Bokoharam terrorist. The terror apparatus itself an amalgam of Fulani and Kanuri criminals terrorizing the country with public support of buhari who is supposed to be the president and other appointed Fulanis and Kanuris who control the Nigeria security echelon.
About this same time in 2019, Bokoharam had attempted to leverage some Christian clerics they had captured for detty December money but were unsuccessful and ended up murdering them gruesomely on camera because buhari couldn’t be bothered since christian lives were expendable like Shuaribu Leah’s own.
It was thus no surprise to me when a combination of Chibok and Dapchi move was made on Kankara on buharis arrival cue at Katsina. In a poorly written script that banked heavily on the expected public outcry, almost 350 human beings were ferried away by a “defeated” Bokoharam and “nonexistent” Fulani bandits in a matter of hours from a school in Katsina.
As expected of a bad movie, Miyetti Allah (the official government recognized group of the killer Fulani herdsmen) somehow became negotiation experts and criminals somehow knew the phone numbers of government officials for ransom to be delivered. Within hours of this abduction, $4m was rumored to have been paid to these killers, not surprisingly few hours after another $1.5bn loan was approved for buhari in his umpteenth loan from world bank.
In a climax – as one would expect Luaretta Oloshie to have with Alhaji Lying Mohammed – Buhari said the ransom paid to Bokoharam which was negotiated by Miyetti Allah (as buratai was pictured holding a python on a porch that was supposedly a snake farm), was a testament to his delusion that the army knows what they are doing.
In summary, there is no need to change the service chiefs that have been spending billions to catch and release terrorists who keep killing soldiers and civilians at every opportunity. Like a maestro who said “hold my beer,” the embattled incompetent service chiefs – along with their clinically inept commander in chief – successfully carried out a charade. One that not only portrayed them being in control but also netted them at least $4m going from reports (which the habitual liars denied) as the ransom paid to the kidnappers. In a trifecta, they also successfully shaded the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan supposedly “slow” response to the Chibok girls saga. Forget the fact that the Chibok kidnap was orchestrated by these very same actors and the same public outcry weaponized to rig an election.
I wish I could bring you good-tidings, the truth however is pertinent. More of this will happen. Your very own voices will be continually used to rip you off of billions of naira, unless of course emotions take a backspace in matters of logic. How do you move 333 students on a bike on a 3hr journey without law enforcement being aware in a country where you encounter police and army checkpoints every 2km in the south east?
Do you realize that every single naira spent – on paper – to supposedly tackle terrorism (which they nurture and openly welcome) in the North comes from the South? Do you know the ransom, the new cloths, the guns used by the terrorists and every single expense on this charade are monies that should be used to develop the South?
Whilst the issue of ransom payment remains in contention, it is however clear that Boko Haram cum Fulani bandits cum killer Fulani herdsmen have gotten their “detty” Christmas gift from buhari whilst the rest of the law abiding citizenry grapple with insecurity and bleak holidays. It however doesn’t have to be so. Nigeria does not exist, stop feeding a ghost!
