So it did happen that Chief MKO Abiola was controversially awarded the GCFR honor posthumously. This did generate lots of furor on social media. One of the fallout was the apology made by the daughter of the late business Mogul, Hasfat. She is quoted to have apologized for whatever her father did against Buhari the current president. Many used this as an opportunity to rewake an old rumor that Abiola financed coups in Nigeria and that he did the one that ousted Buhari in 1984.
I decided to re-examine that rumour and wonder why a palace coup (fact) carried out without a shot fired (fact) needed finance when it was carried out by the top echelon of the military (fact) against a regime so hated (fact) that people danced on the street (fact) when the announcement came.
